Legend has it that Northern Lights is a pure indica plant originating in Afghanistan, although it is suspected that some of the original plants also contained Thai genetics. Today, our Northern Lights Feminized is an indica-dominant hybrid, but retains sativa characteristics in the structure of its leaves.
Indoors, Northern Lights Feminized can reach up to 1.6 metres in height, while outdoors it can exceed 2 metres. Its internodal spaces are relatively wide, with long, thin leaves that reflect its sativa heritage. During flowering, the Afghan genetics manifest themselves in the form of dense, resinous buds that cover the entire plant, along with an impressive main cola.
Performance and Production
Northern Lights Automatic has an average yield of 50-60 grams per plant, or around 500 grams per square meter under 600 watt lamps. Outdoors, it can deliver up to 625 grams per plant, but requires a warm, sunny climate, such as southern Spain, California or North Africa. With enough sun, water and nutrients, Northern Lights will grow like a tree, offering exceptional harvests.
Flowering is complete in about 7-8 weeks, although some growers prefer to harvest right at the end of the seventh week. During flowering, the buds are covered with a thin layer of resin that begins to shine towards the end of the cycle, indicative of its potency.
