Packaging: We work with the best German, Spanish, Dutch and Chilean seed suppliers, which allows us to offer you Beetroot seeds harvested and packaged in 2024, guaranteeing their freshness and a high percentage of germination.

Crop duration: Beetroot is a biennial plant that is primarily grown as an annual. The roots are ready for harvest approximately 55 to 70 days after sowing, depending on the variety and growing conditions.

Special Features: Beetroot roots are known for their tender texture and sweet, earthy flavor. In addition to the roots, beet leaves are also edible and nutritious, similar to spinach, making this plant a doubly useful choice for the garden.

Lighting: Prefers full sun for optimal root development. Make sure plants receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.

Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist, but well drained. Beetroot needs regular watering, especially during root development, to ensure even growth and prevent root hardening.

Pests: Beetroot can be susceptible to pests such as aphids, root maggots and slugs. The use of environmentally friendly products such as potassium soap and neem oil is recommended to keep pests under control.

Cold hardiness: Beetroot is relatively cold hardy and can withstand light frosts. It is ideal for early sowing in spring or autumn in temperate climates.

Substrate: A well-drained and loose substrate, rich in organic matter, is recommended to facilitate root development. A soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH is ideal for this plant.

Harvest: Beets are ready to harvest when they reach 5-7cm in diameter, although they can be harvested smaller for a sweeter, more tender flavour. To get the most out of your crop, cut off the outer leaves and allow the roots to continue developing.

Shipping: All shipments are made through Bluespress. Check out our growing manuals on our website: www.arcademendel.com .
